Five Tips from the Postojna Cave Guide

When traveling to Slovenia, you will probably visit Bled, Ljubljana, and Piran. But please, don’t miss its biggest tourist attraction – Postojna Cave, just 50 kilometers from Slovenia’s capital. 1. BUY A TIMED TICKET AHEAD OF YOUR VISIT

The Postojna Cave is the most attractive cave in the world and the biggest cave in Europe, that you can visit. With 200 years long tourism history it’s definitely the most popular attraction in Slovenia.To minimise your time waiting in a queue we advise buying a ticket online. This way you can straight show your ticket, hop on the train, and start your visit. Buy your tickets ahead of time here.

2. DRESS PROPERLY

The Postojna Cave is the best air-conditioner in the summer time and it warms you up in the winter. With the constant temperature 10°C it’s a perfect escape for your trip. However – to make sure you are not cold, we recommend suitable footwear and clothing. Should you need one, rain jackets are available for hire or to buy.

3. CATCH THE PERFECT TIMING

In the summer time Postojna Cave is open till 6 pm. Visit Predjama Castle first and then head to the Postojna Cave to enjoy a legendary train ride and guided trip in your language. Note: Check the Tour Timetable, and keep in mind that you have to be in the Park 30 minutes before the train departure.

4. DON’T RUSH

There are 5 different attractions in the Park and immerse number of natural sculptures in the Postojna Cave. You will never see them all. Imagine: if you were to look at each piece of art – stalagmite – for 20 seconds, you would need 2 years to see them all. Take your time, stay in our Park longer and enjoy your time. There are signs everywhere leading to the Postojna Cave, so you won’t struggle to find it. But we do recommend to combine your visit of the Postojna Cave with Predjama Castle.
