Postojnska jama d.d. has today been named as a National Champion for Slovenia in The European Business Awards 2015/16

Postojnska jama d.d. from Postojna, Slovenia has today been named as a National Champion for Slovenia in The European Business Awards sponsored by RSM; a prestigious competition supported by businesses leaders, academics, media and political representatives from across Europe.

The European Business Awards now in its 9th year engaged with over 32,000 business from 33 European countries this year and 678 companies from across Europe have been named today as National Champions; going through to the second phase of the competition.

Postojnska jama d.d. manages the Postojna Cave, which is a part of the world heritage and the most important show cave in Europe. The basic activities are sales, promotion and interpretation of natural and cultural sites of interes in the Postojna Cave Park. The activity is complemented by catering, accommodation and trading activities. As regards the financial results it is the best company in the travel-leisure sector, which represents 13% of GDP.

A milestone in the company’s success was the change of the ownership in 2010. With the strategic orientation: “We do only what is good for a guest and the cave,” the new owner succeeded in changing the way of thinking of all the employees, resulting in the above-average improving of the guests’ satisfaction and exceptional financial results. On the basis of the state-of-the-art information technology, being mainly the result of our knowledge, we perceive the needs of guests, optimize the work processes, while striving for not worsening the product condition. Our goal is to leave the cave to our descendants in a better condition than we received it. All mentioned above can be achieved by permanent investment in employees.

The company has become globally penetrant. In 2014, the visit from Asia increased from 7% to 30%, while the sector is still based mainly on the European guest.
