We have ventured into the olm’s waters - completely without any lights or disruptive external elements in the aquarium. We photographed the olm in its dark environment without additional illumination. What we captured was not the darkness, but what we had waited and hoped for all along – the olms’ embyonic development with visible cell division. To put it simply: it looks like the little ‘dragons’ are growing."

On Saturday, 30 January 2016, one of Postojna Cave’s tour guides noticed that there was an olm egg attached to the glass of the aquarium, which is located in the Concert Hall of Postojna Cave. Next to the egg, there was a pregnant female olm watching it carefully. Both Postojna Cave's biologists were immediately informed about what had happened and came to the cave that same evening to see what was going on.
